Volunteer Build Weeks 2024
Join us for a week in 2024 to help us build with straw and clay!

We're looking for volunteers to help us build our small load-bearing straw bale garden room, and also to help us install light-straw-earth (straw in clay slip) into our pre-fab timber passivhaus. Both will also need clay plastering, using clay from the site.

Volunteers will need to bring their own tent and appropriate clothing, but all meals will be provided.

We have limited capacity for hosting lots of volunteers at once and these set weeks are now fully booked. However, we will be continuing our little straw bale outbuilding project and our light-earth/clay plastering inside our timber passivhaus project all through the winter, and would welcome anyone willing to give up some of their time to help us.
Hopefully by November we will be able to host up to 2 people at a time in our tiny house as we plan/hope to be camping/living in our passivhaus by then! We could also fit one campervan (not big) on site at a time, and anyone willing to camp in a tent is always welcome.

Please be aware that the site is a construction site with uneven ground and many trip hazards. It is therefore not best suited to people who struggle with mobility.
Also, on the site we have bee hives, chickens and a dog, as well as lots of long grass, insects, wildlife and pollen. People with allergies will need to take responsibility for their own safety, bringing any appropriate medications.
Facilities on site include compost toilets, mains water, a hot shower(!), power, and wifi.
